Hannah Davies
Hannah Davies, is an emerging Anglo-Swedish artist. Not originally a painter, Hannah has embraced painting over the past few years as a means to express her deeper self. The strong colours in her work symbolize her desire to "take up space," something she has been told she lacks. She believes assertiveness can be quiet, allowing her cowboys, with their loud expressions, to fill that space. Her colours express a powerful presence that conveys what she feels she lacks.
The cowboy figure is central in her works, but she portrays them with complexity, often showing them as clumsy or foolish. This contrast explores the struggle between the mythical image and human vulnerability.
Her comedic and sarcastic portrayals aim to reinforce and undermine the cowboy's status, making them relatable and flawed. She likens her artistry to British dry humour, using her Welsh roots to embrace life's chaos while laughing at it.
We are proud to represent Hannah Davies as a Guest Artist at the Nordic Art Agency. We look forward to exhibiting her work in a joint solo exhibition in September.
